The purpose of this website is to get people walking at a level and a frequency that will benefit their health. The ideal level to achieve this is classed as moderate - at a pace that makes your heart beat faster than normal and makes you feel warmer. The ideal number of walks to aim for over time, and depending on an individual's starting point, is five walks per week of around 30 minutes duration each. This is a national evidence-based recommendation that is supported within Dudley.
The advantage of this message is that it is relevant to the individual. So whether you are old, young, male, female, or you walk at 1 mile per hour or 10 miles per hour, it does not matter because it is your moderate level that counts.
IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS ON YOUR ABILITY TO WALK AT A MODERATE LEVEL DUE TO YOUR AGE OR ANY EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS THEN PLEASE SEEK ADVICE FROM YOUR GP. public/walkzone/index.htm
